Under Construction

Health

The internal aspects of Wing Chun are just as important as the external. The Saam Wan gives equal priority to each. The core of the internal training in Wing Chun is the forms. These are a sequence of movements (similar but not the same as in Tai Chi) that contain all the techniques in the Wing Chun system, performed as a flowing sequence, with careful control of the breathing. Understanding theses movements is at the heart of the internal aspect of Wing Chun and is essential to the mastery of the system.

Breathing

When we are confronted with various situations our thought patterns send signals throughout the body which start chemical changes. These changes are usually picked up by the change in our breathing. The in-take of breath is the usual quick fix to calm the body and mind thus returning the internal chemistry to a balanced state.

Over thousands of years Martial Artists have learned how to use breathing to internal heal, slow the heart rate or to provide external strength. The Martial Artist in the office has used it to keep calm and focused.

Sounds

We use sound to tone and strengthen the lungs and is also used as another breathing technique. If you suffer from any kind of breathing condition you will benefit considerably by introducing this practice into your daily exercise routine.

We use six tones on the out breath. The mouth must be open and there are guidelines to the tones. They must stay constant.

The mind must accept each tone and vibration in a peaceful awareness (Mo Gik).

Three Souls

When we understand and feel the breath we then learn how to move it through the body. The practice of Sil Lim Tao enhances this flow. The breath then becomes energy feeding the three souls.
